According to Ken Poynter writing in the Summer 2000 edition of the Hudson Triangle – Journal of the Hudson/EssexTerraplane Society there were only 12 of these amazing models made. In 1932 Hudson Motor Car Company offered Six distinct Essex body styles. The 1/4 scale model being offered at auction represents one of those six body styles. These 1/4 scale models built by the engineering department, were a one time offering making them rare and desirable. Never again did Hudson ever create such a highly detailed 1/4 scale models. All were destined for display at the 1932 New York Auto Show at the Waldorf Astoria. These wonderful models were made in the Hudson Auto factory. Each model weighs in at over 100 pounds. They have amazing details including exterior trim, door handles, mirrors, interiors, removable tires, wheels, and hubcaps. This example has under gone a professional restoration. No expenses was spared bringing this rare factory model to its original glory. The paint is flawless. The chrome has all been redone and is perfect.
